Seattle City Council mulls plan to pay legal fees for those fighting eviction

Residents who are being evicted from their home and sued for back rent could decide to opt for legal representation that would be provided free of charge, regardless of their income under a plan being considered by the Seattle City Council.
The council’s Sustainability and Renter’s Rights Committee voted 3-1 Thursday to advance the proposal to the full council, which could take the matter up during its meeting Monday.
