Two recent, back-to-back My Turn pieces in the Monitor are, I think, a sign of hope for our future, and that of our kids. These are John Gage’s “Carbon pricing, coming soon” (3/20), and Alexandra Rose’s “We’re embarrassingly behind on climate action”.
Katy’s “So long for now” Monitor column (1/23), announcing her retirement, brings both some sadness and a happy reminder. Sadness because we will miss her intelligent commentary on the crazy things going on in our shared world these days, and a happy.
With all due respect (after all, I’m one of our species) our dysfunctional, non-scientific, reactions to the ongoing COVID and climate change challenges we face cause me to wonder how we managed to get this far along on evolution’s path. Willful.
