When Sophie Roberts became a widow at 30, it was hard to find someone who could relate to her experience.
Her husband Alex was diagnosed with bowel cancer at 29, and spent two-and-a-half years fighting the disease. Then he passed away, which was obviously devastating, but also quite isolating because in your early 30s, when people have news it s usually engagements, marriage or babies, Sophie says. I joked with my friends that I felt like I d be thrust in the over-75s category.
