MANILA - President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has named lawyer Norman Garcera Tansingco as the new commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration (BI). "We confirm the appointment of Atty. Norman Garcera Tansingco as Commissioner, Bureau of Immigration, Department of Justice," Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a press statement. Malacanang released a copy of Tansingco's appointment paper to reporters. Tansingco will replace officer-in-charge Rogelio Gevero Jr., who was appointed by Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla last month. The BI is one of the three attached agencies under the DOJ. Tansingco worked at BI for nearly a decade -from July 2007 up to January 2017. He was chief of staff of former Commissioner Marcelino Libanan during the term of former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
