The body of 16-year-old Faith Moore, who was swept away in floodwaters Saturday in Cottonwood, was recovered Wednesday.
Officials said Moore’s body was found on the banks of the Verde River Wednesday afternoon some distance away from her car. A Google Maps measurement of the wash showed that she may have traveled approximately 1.5 miles in the rushing waters from where she was last seen to where her body was found.
Moore went missing Saturday evening during a storm after calling 911 because her vehicle was stranded in a “low water crossing” near Camino Real and Rocky Knolls Road. Upon first arriving at the rural location, crews spotted the vehicle with a silhouette of a person inside. When crews got closer, however, the person was gone.
