The new Rocky Mountain Instinct has 140mm of rear travel that s paired with a 150mm fork. It uses the same frame as the enduro-oriented Altitude, but with a different shock mount and shock to create a bike that s more focused on pedaling and exploring. It s available with either a carbon or aluminum frame in a wide range of build kits and prices.
The Instinct also replaces the Thunderbolt in Rocky s lineup. That bike had 140mm of travel and 27.5” wheels, so Rocky decided to consolidate things and offer the Instinct with different wheel sizes depending on the frame size. That means sizes small thru XL roll on 29” wheels, and there s also a 27.5” option for small and extra-small sizes.

You might have recently read about Ben Hildred s exploits as he climbed 21,635 meters of vertical over the course of three days. Why 21,635 meter exactly? Well, the height of Olympus Mons, the tallest planetry mountain in the solar system, is 21,288 meters and Ben clearly decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
The bike wasn t just built for going up, but also to be capable and inspire confidence coming back down.
Ben stands at 194cm and chose the XL size. He rides the bike in the low setting, with its chainstays in the long position. Ben feels that for taller riders this achieves better rear-wheel traction while pedalling seated.

Wheels are DT Swiss E1900 Spline and are kitted out with a Maxxis Assegai tyre up front and a Maxxis Minion DHR II tyre out back.
You get the same YT Postman dropper post and Renthal Fatbar 35 as on the Jeffsy Blaze, but there’s a grip upgrade to Sensus Swayze.
It didn’t take many rides on the slick new Moots Womble titanium hardtail to notice that, wherever I went, other riders and particularly those of a certain age were giving my bike elevator eyes. When I sent the Womble out on a test ride with my rippin’ 60-year-old neighbor, he didn’t even make it to the trail head before he encountered a friend (and peer) who rolled down his window to say hi but couldn’t help adding, “Wow! Nice bike!” When Chris returned the bike to me, he raved about its precise steering, climbing prowess, and stiff, rocket ship-like feel, but summed up his review with, “but hey it’s a Moots. What’s
