MIDDLEBORO At the January 25 meeting, the Middleboro Select Board discusses a proposal to convert the former Rockland Trust building at Glass Square into apartments.
The board voted to submit a letter of support for a development proposal which would convert the old Rockland Trust building, located on 8 Station St., into a housing complex.
The proposal would utilize the existing space of the 18,000-plus square foot building into 16 residential apartments.
The application for the proposal is being submitted to the state’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) in order to qualify for its Local Initiative Program (LIP). To participate in the program and gain incentives, 25% of the apartments must meet affordable housing standards and availability for low to moderate income families.
