Police lay charges against organizers of large gathering Posted on April 30, 2021 by oshawaexpress in COVID-19, CRIME Durham police have charged organizers of a large gathering at a playground in Whitby earlier in the week in violation of provincial emergency health measures. On April 27 around 4 p.m., police and bylaw officers attended a large gathering at Baycliffe Park (also known as Rocketship Park) in defiance of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) and Reopening Ontario Act (ROA). DRPS say the officers managed the situation in accordance with proper police protocols, taking into account all circumstances and professional considerations, including the safety of a large number of young children who were present at the time.

Port Jeff s Beloved Rocketship Park Fully Reopens

Rocketship Park in Port Jefferson has a long history with many different iterations of the rocketship playset taking center stage in the playground over the years. The original rocket-shaped playset was installed in 1972, according to an article on Patch.com. It was replaced a couple of times over the years until a few years ago the park was renovated and a new design put in place. The beloved park also known as Clifton H. Lee Memorial Park, named after the village’s second mayor had been. According to Mayor Margot Garant, the park was closed due to Covid-19 and had reopened under restricted hours. On Saturday, March 13, the park was back to regular hours opening daily at 8am until dusk.
