(Davenport, IA) Two Quad Cities correctional officers are facing charges following an altercation with an inmate at the Rock Island County Jail in January.
The state’s attorney’s office says the incident between a female inmate and two female correctional officers happened on January 29th. On February 2nd, Rock Island County Sheriff Gerry Bustos ordered an internal investigation, which was completed on February 25th and returned to Sheriff Bustos. The sheriff s office says further investigation into the altercation was necessary following the internal investigation.
Sheriff Bustos then requested the assistance of the city of Rock Island Police Department and the state’s attorney’s office to conduct a separate and independent criminal investigation. Detectives with the Rock Island Police Department secured all evidence, investigated the events that took place and then referred the case to the state’s attorney’s office.
