Rock County Salvation Army surpasses fundraising goal
ROCK COUNTY (WKOW) As of Jan. 28 the Salvation Army in Rock County raised $563,597.50, surpassing its goal of $560,000 set in the fall.
During the pandemic the Salvation Army reported bell ringers were only able to raise 43 percent of the cash normally collected in the county.
Major Tom McDowell, Rock County Coordinator for the organization, said what helped them meet their goal with fewer bell ringers available to stand at kettles was more family foundations made donations, individuals increased their donations and several bell ringers who weren t able to ring donated in lieu of ringing.
