ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) A U.S. Government Advisory Panel Thursday voted to approve Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine. The Food and Drug Administration is expected to follow the panel s approval as well.
News10NBC talked to local doctors who helped develop the vaccine and a phase one Pfizer Trial participant about Thursday s announcement.
The 17 to four approval opens the way for emergency use authorization of the vaccine for people over the age of 16. Rochester s Hospital systems helped play a big role in all of this.
The vaccine developed by Pfizer, and BioNTech is expected to be ready for use in a matter of days. Rochester Regional Health s Dr. Ann Falsey is one of many local researchers who worked on the trial who says the final product is safe to take.
