Wednesday, community leaders spoke up in support of keeping the church open after they say Father Mickey McGrath announced plans to shut it down.

The Rochester Catholic Diocese says it s formed a committee and is conducting a study to determine the next steps.
Technically, a final decision has not been made yet. I hope they seriously consider a solution to a problem that by closing that church, you will bring harm to the spirit of the people of this area, Rudy Rivera said. And most especially to the Latino community for which that is the house that guards many of us.
