Spackman Moss said that would give students the tools to protect themselves. Utah is an opt-in state, where parents have to sign off on their student’s health education. Dr. Kellie Woodfield, an OB-GYN at the University of Utah, said consent has to do with communication skills and boundary settings. “This concept of consent isn t limited to just sexual behavior, but actually encompasses a broader effort to teach children and adolescents about respecting the agency of others,” she said. “It’s so much more than refusal skills.” The bill received major pushback as many took issue with the description and expansion of consent.

click to enlarge Wyoming can toss rocks. Talk about a bunch of ingrates! What s going on up there, anyway? I ve read recently that some people in The Equality State are talking about Wyoming seceding from the United States. They want to be an independent sovereignty. In their imaginations, they see Wyoming joining with like-minded states (if there really are any) in forming a new alignment of states that lack common borders but which share the common gripe that the federal government is the devil in disguise. They ironically believe their only way to be free is not to reward strength in unity, but to admire strength of isolation. It s the kind of thinking that got such temporary Wyoming outlaws as Butch Cassidy and Jesse James killed. Sure, they were on the same page philosophically, but they weren t a team.

Sisolak Releases Budget Priorities, New Vaccine Shipment Expected In Washoe Today

Could Funding Cuts Be Restored? By Ahead of tonight s State of the State Address, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak released a state budget that would reverse many of the cuts made by lawmakers last summer. The proposal calls for $8.6 billion in general fund spending over the next biennium the two year period spanning fiscal years 2022-23. That’s roughly $187 million or two percent less than what state lawmakers appropriated in 2019 for the current biennium. While the budget reflects the grim reality of the pandemic’s economic fallout, Sisolak’s Chief of Staff Michelle White told reporters during a press call Monday that current revenue projections are more optimistic than originally predicted.
