Police department reminds public to Be Safe and Drive Sober

– Millions of Americans will be traveling to visit friends and family over the holidays. The Paso Robles Police Department encourages everyone to have a holiday game plan that includes a designated sober driver.

Fatal hit-and-run victim identified in Paso Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. Paso Robles Police Department identified the fatal hit-and-run victim on Monday morning. Paso Robles Police Department identified the victim as Steve Leon, 22 from Paso Robles. On Saturday at around 1:40 a.m., Paso Robles police reported to a car crash involving a gray car and a pedestrian near Meadowlark and Deer Springs Drive. The gray car fled the scene and was last seen traveling eastbound on Meadowlark. While officers were on their way to the scene, they received a call about a second eastbound car crash into a pedestrian. The second car was described to be a dark-colored BMW.

Vegetation fire in Salinas Riverbed Monday caused by campfire

–On Monday at approximately 1:15 p.m., Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a vegetation fire in the riverbed South of the Niblick bridge in Paso Robles. First arriving firefighters found a column of smoke developing in the middle of the Salinas River corridor. Thick, overgrown vegetation made access difficult for firefighters to attack the fire. Once firefighters safely gained access, they were able to contain the fire to one-third of an acre. Two fire engines, one ladder truck, and two battalion chiefs from Paso Robles responded. Under the city’s automatic aid agreements, two fire engines, one air attack, one dozer, and one battalion chief from Cal Fire / SLO County also responded. Additionally, one fire engine from Templeton Fire was ordered to assist with containing the fire. Paso Robles Police Department assisted in providing the initial location of the fire and traffic control.

Woman arrested for intentionally setting fire in Salinas Riverbed

Samantha Parker was arrested for starting the fire and for narcotic violations. –On Saturday at approximately 9:09 a.m., Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the riverbed adjacent to 3200 Sulphur Springs Road, just north of the Highway 46 East bridge. First arriving firefighters found a 20’x20′ spot actively burning around trees and brush. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 10 minutes and worked to fully extinguish the fire over the next hour. Two fire engines, one paramedic squad, and one battalion chief from Paso Robles responded. Paso Robles Police Department also responded for traffic control and investigation.
