Image Credit: SUBMITTED January 19, 2021 - 3:41 PM Kamloops RCMP have one person in custody after a chase led to the Kamloops School of the Arts. The chase occurred along the Trans-Canada Highway near Peterson Creek, until going through downtown and eventually ending on Robinson Crescent near the school. Students and staff were directed at both Kamloops School of the Arts and Lloyd George Elementary were directed to stay indoors until the incident was over. One witness reported seeing multiple police cars driving up to where the chase eventually ended and a helicopter was circling above. An RCMP media statement said that a man allegedly left a retail store on the 500 block of Notre Dame Drive with several hundred dollars of merchandise, then fled through an emergency exit to a stolen brown truck.
