Stauffer is new KPA president | Kansas Press Association

Tim Stauffer, managing editor of the Iola Register, was elected president of the Kansas Press Association Board of Directors at the KPA convention at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane. He is the fifth generation in his family to work for the daily newspaper, located in southeast Kansas. Before working for the Register, Stauffer taught English at Wyandotte High School in Kansas

Newspapers get Inland grants for reporters | Kansas Press Association

The Inland Press Foundation has awarded two Kansas newspapers grants to strengthen their local news reporting. The grants will go to the Eureka Herald and the Council Grove Republican to add to their reporting staffs. Inland partnered with the Kansas Press Association to promote the Inland Community News Grants to newspapers in the Wheat State. Inland launched the program in December 2021 in response to the decline in the number of journalists at daily and non-daily newspapers in the United States.

Work from home works for KPA | Kansas Press Association

It’s been about 20 months since the Kansas Press Association sold its headquarters in Topeka and instituted a work-from-home operation. So, how’s it going so far? “It has been an amazing transition,” said Emily Bradbury, KPA executive director. “Of course, there have been issues, but I think the staff has responded well to the new challenges. We’re pleased with where we are today.”
