The United States Departments of Education and Health and Human Services will begin sending free Covid tests to schools, which the Aspen School District will take advantage of when their current stock runs low.
As Pitkin County goes, so goes the school system with COVID-19 case numbers, anyway. A recent surge in local cases in Pitkin County also made for a relatively proportional bump in case counts among school-aged children and an uptick in teacher and staff cases, according to Pitkin County Public Health’s COVID-19 data dashboards.
All schools and child care facilities in Pitkin County will require universal masking for people over the age of 2 this fall to curb the spread of COVID-19 and keep kids in school as much as possible.
