More powerful drugs and pandemic-related mental health issues have contributed to a sharp rise in the number of opioid-related deaths confirmed by provincial police in Southwestern Ontario last year.
Det. Const. Chris Auger, a drug enforcement expert with the OPP’s organized crime bureau, revealed data during an online panel discussion Wednesday that also featured Huron Perth public health and local providers of mental health and addiction services.
