Plans to restart criminal felony jury trials in Travis County since the start of the coronavirus pandemic hit a snag Monday when too many potential jurors were disqualified from the selection phase, forcing a delay of the case.
Paul Adams, 38, was scheduled to go to trial this week after he was charged with murder last year. Adams confessed last year to strangling his girlfriend, Robin Hatcher, and putting her body in a dumpster, according to the affidavit police filed for his arrest. Hatcher had been missing since August 2019.
The trial would ve been the first time a Travis County jury was convened for a felony criminal case since March 2020. In-person court proceedings in Travis County and across the country began to shut down at that time to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
