A brief Bryan County Commission meeting Feb. 9 was dominated by financial issues as more than $1 million was transferred between county accounts and a resolution was passed to seek a request for proposals for a bond refinancing of $29.5 million.
The amount is a repayment to the general/countywide fund because of money needed in 2010 and 2012 by the water and sewer fund to cover debt service payments to the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority for a loan to cover infrastructure work done during those years.
In 2010, the amount transferred was $337,307 and in 2012 the amount was $673,350. The repaid transfer amount also includes $68,893 in accrued interest from those year to the present.
