Leader of Americans for the Arts retires amid allegations of a hostile work environment

Story at a glance President of Americans for the Arts Robert L. Lynch announced on Thursday that he will be retiring from the position. Lynch has been on paid leave since Dec. 16 amid allegations of a hostile workplace. The interim president, retired Army Brig. Gen. Nolen Bivens, will replace Lynch as president. President of Americans for the Arts (AFTA) Robert L. Lynch announced on Thursday that he will be retiring from the position after spending five months on paid leave amid hostile workplace allegations.  In December, The Washington Post published an article detailing allegations of a hostile workplace that included instances of sexual harassment, racial inequity, and intimidation, and a reluctance from the advisory board to rectify it.
