Pittsfield officials urge caution as vaccine buddy system spawns solicitations

PITTSFIELD â€” The vaccination buddy system is raising alarm bells in Pittsfield. The state on Thursday started allowing one person who accompanies a senior 75 or older to get a COVID-19 vaccine at some of the state s public vaccination sites, including at Berkshire County s three public clinics, to get a shot themselves.  The aim of the new rule, as an official of Mayor Linda Tyer s administration noted in a news release Friday, was to increase the number of people older than 75 who receive the vaccine. But, the system “has resulted in an alarming increase in direct solicitation and advertising to seniors from individuals seeking to get vaccinated,” Roberta McCulloch-Dews, director of administrative services, said in the release.

If there s ever a story to show that you should never stop looking for a lost pet, this is it! said the shelter s feline manager Erin Starsja, who reunited Tellus and her dad. Back in September, Alicia and Chris Knowles were renting an Airbnb property while house hunting in Berkshire County. The couple and their two children, ages 3 and 9, were relocating from Maine. ZBA Approves Permit for Berkshire Root Cultivation Facility

PITTSFIELD, Mass. Berkshire Roots is one step closer to adding a third site to its Pittsfield operations. The Zoning Board of Appeals last Wednesday approved a special permit from KO Resources LLC to allow the construction of a two-story, 100,000 square foot marijuana cultivation facility at the former site of Ken s Bowl with conditions on the approval adopted from the recommendations of a third-party review. These conditions are designed to improve the facility s odor mitigation systems and were recommended after a review of the application by Odor Science and Engineering, Inc., (OS&E) of Bloomfield, Conn.   It seems to me, at least in my eyes, that we have a state of the art odor mitigation plan,  board member Thomas Goggins said. I think this is the best solution for what has been perceived to be a problem with odor from marijuana production facilities.
