out here in case rumors of a planned protest materialize and so far issue they have not. reporter: uc berkley is not a place of protest. when we have building occupations or is the-ins, the crowd is peaceful and operative. reporter: last night, the berkeley police officers were injured when a protest about the proposed university tuition hikes escalated to this. and what you will see are some officers trying to propose that from happening. reporter: a protester rushes the door over the top of an officer and appears to spet in his face. -by-carried away and is the only one. reporter: tonight, the uc berkeley police are studying the ktvuvo and the officer s actions. we teach them to exercise as much restraint as possible and we respect the protestors right to protest we expect them to respect the university time, place, and manner rules. reporter: the protest started here and this is typical connecticut energy. they agreed with the cause but not the outcome.
