He has been a practicing physician on Infectious Diseases for 37 years. He practiced in california before coming to d. C. Where he has been active speaking for the National Museum of civil war medicine. He frequently lectures civil war groups. We are thankful to have him speak to us tonight. Hes a member of the board of directors of the society of civil war surgeons and public concerning, he is what we call a switch hitter he does reenacting as a physician in the civil war for confederate and union soldiers. Late night bull session last night which a lot of my democratic colleagues in detroit did as well. Im sure a few of you stood up to watch the democratic debates. I have to admit, i did not. I read the recaps this morning and seems like much seasoning and thoughts by the democrats have not yet made them come to their senses. Understand were still advocating for decriminalized just decriminalizing our border illegally and deporting no one and in the meantime giving taxpayerfunded healthcare, too. In fact, one of my colleagues in the congress recently said that we have to provide taxpayerfunded abortion to illegal immigrants. Which, i have to say, sounds like something some of you might come up with at a late night bull session when youre thinking of a parity about the Democratic Party positions might be. I could go on and on about our democratic friends and what they were saying last night but i see that on your tables you all have a fascinated book in front of you. It is called sacred d

Raise your hand if youve been to the cemetery cracks if you did not raise your hand, i would encourage you to make it over there and spend a couple of hours at the tomb of the unknown soldiers. It is truly sacred ground. It seems to have been designed by some secret plan to become our national cemetery.

Oh, what, dr. Hardy continues to perfect, though, is is of the past. He and i first met when he was working here for the east Tennessee Historical society and the Education Department. And he, alongside lisa oakley, whos with us today, worked tirelessly to build a network of teachers throughout the region who understood the power local history in the classroom. They also worked tirelessly to create a network of students in high school and middle school who are competing at the highest levels in the National History day competitions.
