LOCK HAVEN Dr. Robert Pignatello, former president of Lock Haven University, has been named one of Pennsylvania Business Central’s, Top 100 People for 2021.
According to the organization, a Business to Business Publication for the region, its annual edition “highlights the vibrant economic and social life of central Pennsylvania by honoring the people who make it happen with the vision, dedication and drive to not only complete the task, but to envision, expand and excel.”
“We are fascinated by the impact a single individual can have on their workplace,” they continued, and on “their community and the lives of those around them. The stories of these individuals can provide instruction, inspiration and the motivation to raise our own standard of excellence,” they explained.
Mia Swales
LOCK HAVEN The Lock Haven University Council of Trustees recently welcomed Mia Swales, graduate student in the clinical mental health counseling program, as its new student member. Swales was approved by the Board of Governors at their regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 4.
Swales graduated from LHU in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in sociology. She also served as a resident assistant in Woolridge Hall.
“Mia is a true advocate of the student body and will be fully engaged with the important issues the university will be experiencing,” said Dr. Robert Pignatello, former LHU president. “She has already proudly represented the university as an undergraduate student, and we look forward to her growth through this experience.”

LOCK HAVEN The president of Bloomsburg University who has a controversial past has been named interim president of Lock Haven University as the two school prepare for an integration with Mansfield University.
Dr. Bashar Hanna began his job at LHU today.
He succeeds Dr. Robert Pignatello, who is joining the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s (PASSHE) Office of the Chancellor as senior advisor for integration strategy, focusing on workforce development and short-term credentials.
“I am humbled to have been selected as interim president of Lock Haven University by the State System’s Board of Governors,” Hanna said. “They have put their faith in me to lead Lock Haven into the future. With student success as our guiding light, we will continue to fulfill the university’s mission. Now more than ever, our region’s students need access to an exemplary, affordable education.
