On Sunday at 9:45 p.m., a resident noticed two suspects allegedly trying to steal a catalytic converter from a parked vehicle on the 2200 block of San Pablo Avenue.
Upon realizing they had been seen, the suspects started driving away when officers spotted their vehicle and detained them, according to an email from Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Byron White. The officers proceeded to search the suspect vehicle and found several saws, wrenches, drills and pry tools.
After inspecting the vehicle the suspects were initially seen tampering with, officers discovered that the catalytic converter was partially removed, White said in the email.

Born near Lairdsville, Harriet Jane Derr was photographed with daughter Bertelle, age three, husband John B. Laubach, and seven year old son Frank C. Laubach of Benton, Columbia County, PA. The latter would become known world-wide for his success in literacy in a program he developed titled “Each one Teach One.”
LAIRDSVILLE – Many individuals, especially educators, recognize the name Frank Charles Laubach as a missionary who fought illiteracy around the world. A quote linked to the late Benton born man was, “The ability to read is the key to the door of the world, and through them, to a world of understanding, instead of fear hate and superstition.”
