Clarence Fanto | The Bottom Line: Can Woebot ease your pandemic pain?

LENOX — Need a therapist to cope with the mental and emotional fallout from COVID, but can’t find one? You’re not alone. Many counselors are booked up, prompting Jessica Macnair, a licensed practitioner in Washington, D.C., to put out a “help needed” video: “We need more qualified clinicians in our field, we are absolutely drowning.” During the pandemic, about four in 10 U.S. adults reported symptoms of anxiety or depression, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. Co-founder and CEO Robert Krayn of Talkiatry, an online search source for qualified psychiatrists, points out that “the shortage really existed historically, it’s just coming to the forefront because the pandemic has had negative effects on mental health. Psychiatry practice Talkiatry plans new location at 6,000 square foot Hudson Square location

The new location will feature about 16 examination rooms, and the corporate headquarters also will be moved there, Krayn said. The NoMad office will remain open and continue serving patients; it has 13 examination rooms. Patient visits are expected to double to 20,000 per year with the new site, he said. Talkiatry has options on the Hudson Square location for 15 years, and the NoMad lease is for 10 years, including options, Krayn said. There was a need for more space as about 20 more physicians joined the team. There are already 18 providers in its existing space, Krayn noted. The move follows a recent expansion as Talkiatry doubled its footprint by taking over the full floor in NoMad four months ago, he added.
