Days Gone By: Jan 14, 2021 | Rio Blanco Herald Times | Serving Meeker, Rangely, Dinosaur & Northwest Colorado

Being killed by electricity is a shocking way to die. Simp Harp, manager of the stage and express company, took a trip over the Meeker-Rifle division in the early part of this week, and reported the road in very smooth condition on his return to Meeker. The Meeker Herald ~ 100 years ago Arthur Brisbane says that the rainbow was the first great advertising. It had position. It had color. It held out a promise of benefit. And then it has the value of repetition, because it was repeated in the same position and color and promise after every rain always opposite the sun.

Approaching the Future With Optimism ... The Optimist Club Of Coronado Provides A Place For Hope & Service For Youth And The Community

Coronado has been home to a chapter of the Optimist International organization for 50 years. On Sept. 28, 1970 a group of 26 Coronadans, led by Dave Nash and the first president of the club, Tom Meadows, chartered the Optimist Club of Coronado to serve the community’s youth. Today the Optimist Club of Coronado continues in its mission with current president, Robert Kracht and current Club Representative to the District, Diana Drummey. Both longtime members of the chapter here in Coronado, Kracht and Drummey were drawn to club’s ideals and opportunities to serve in ways that bring people together. “The camaraderie; the fact that we are a community club that makes the children a priority. I believe that is what draws us together. Our Optimist Creed also inspires people and that is another draw for new members,” Drummey said.
