The driver accused in a deadly DUI crash in Christian County is a Capitol Police investigator with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.
State police say 46-year-old Robert Hodson of Taylorville was trying to pass a vehicle on Route 48 and struck an oncoming car head-on. The driver of that car, 19-year-old Haley Shoot of Taylorville, and a 20-year-old passenger, Zaydin Dudra of Taylorville, were killed. Another passenger in Shoot’s car, 19-year-old Jade Thomas of Indiana, has life-threatening injuries.
Hodson is on unpaid leave as he faces felony charges in the crash.

Two people are dead and two others are seriously hurt after a crash late Thursday on Route 48 in Christian County.
Illinois State Police say 46-year-old Robert Hodson of Taylorville was northbound on Route 48 and attempting to pass another vehicle when he struck a southbound car head-on. The driver of the second car, 19-year-old Haley Shoot of Taylorville, was killed, and so was one of her passengers, 20-year-old Zaydin Dudra of Taylorville. Another passenger in Shoot’s car, 19-year-old Jade Thomas of Lafayette, Indiana, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Hodson was also seriously injured but is expected to recover.
