WOLCOTT – The Democratic Town Committee has appointed two new constables.
Chairman Robert Ficeto appointed John “Corky” Mazurek and Ed Hawthorne to the positions, replacing Antony and Austin Casagrande.
The town has six constables, three Democrats and three Republicans, who are appointed by their party and elected by voters to two-year terms. Ficeto is the third Democratic constable.
According to the Town Charter, the constables’ duties include civil actions, such as serving papers.
“Going forward, these type of appointments will be given to only those who step up and show participation within the party efforts by working during elections, helping our candidates get elected, participating in outreach efforts to bring new residents in (to) the party and assisting in party fundraising functions,” Ficeto stated.
