Joseph “Joe” M. Benner, 72, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on April 9, 1949 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Dorothy Hull and was raised by his grandparents, the late Russell and Helen Benner.
On Nov. 8, 1968, he married Deborah (Garner) Benner, who survives him at home after sharing over 52 years of marriage together.
Joe was a graduate of Bellefonte High School, Class of 1967. Prior to his retirement, Joe worked for Weis Markets for more than 50 years.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, he is survived by his children, Amy Jo Benner, and Carol Fazler (Karl); two brothers, Ed Benner, and Tom Benner (Janet), and one sister, Helen Eckley (Dale). Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Greg Garner (Sue), sisters-in-law, Bonnie Burris (Jim), and Karin Garner; three grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephew
