STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A dedicated mother and a giving community member.
That is how family members and elected officials described and remembered MaryLou Cerqua Saturday morning as they dedicated the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and Wiman Avenue in Great Kills in her name five years after a tragic pedestrian crash took her life.
“She always gave unconditional love to myself, my brother, Christopher, and my sister, Jennifer,” Cerqua’s son, Robert, said as the sun came out for a brief moment.
“It’s a sign,” he joked.
