Whitinsville-based Koopman Lumber has acquired Boilard Lumber, a family-owned lumber yard based in Indian Orchard, a neighborhood of Springfield, marking its first incursion into Western Massachusetts.
WILBRAHAM – Jonathan Murray, director of 120 Old Boston Road Recycling, a Western Recycling/USA Waste company, explained to the Wilbraham Board of Selectmen on April 4 that his company is seeking authorization to use a newly-approved method of sealing railroad cars carrying solid waste.
HAMPDEN/WILBRAHAM – The Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District (HWRSD) hosted its second budget roundtable of the year on March 3 and was joined by the Hampden Advisory Board, the Wilbraham Finance Committee and the Boards of Selectmen from both towns.

SPRINGFIELD A 2-by-4 that cost $2.25 a year ago now sells for $5 or more.
The price of a 4-foot-by-8-foot sheet of drywall that sold for $6 last year is now over $8.
And a sheet of plywood the same size that sold for $26 last year is now pushing $80.
The price of lumber and other building materials has nearly tripled in the last year, up 180%, according to the National Association of Home Builders.
