Connecticut’s Independent Party appointed a new chairman last week to replace Michael Telesca, who stepped down after more than 20 years in the post. Stewart "Chip" Beckett, a former Glastonbury Town Council member and candidate for Lt. Governor, was elected party chair on April 28.
The former Independent candidate who ran against Gov. Ned Lamont in the 2022 election, Robert Hotaling, and subsequently joined Lamont's administration, will assume a new role within the state Department of Economic and Community Development.
The state announced the latest round of funding for brownfield remediation on Thursday, amounting to about $23.8 million to remediate 22 properties around the state.
