A-Bar opens inside The Pad, Graze & Torreys set to open in 2022

It’s finally here: The Pad hotel and hostel officially opened the week of Thanksgiving and with it, A-Bar, a new watering hole that offers both guests and visitors a place to stop and relax on.

The Pad, a Shipping Container Hotel, Aims to Make Ski Trips Eco-Friendly

The Pad, set on the Blue River in downtown Silverthorne – within 15 miles of several ski areas, including Keystone and Arapahoe Basin – is built from 18 upcycled shipping containers. The property features both communal, hostel-style bunk rooms along with traditional hotel rooms and roomier suites. Lynne and Rob Baer are the husband-and-wife pair behind what will be Colorado’s first B Corp lodging property.

Opinion | Susan Knopf: Bridging gaps through community connections

For the Record I was walking with a friend on the recpath in Silverthorne when we came upon the backside of The Pad . That’s the new concept boutique hotel/hostel. I checked out the back patio and its view of the Blue River. It won’t be long now. The project has been years in the making and a great example of making lemonade out of lemons. If the Dillon Town Council had more creative vision, this fabulous new gathering place would have been in Dillon. That’s where Pad owner Lynne Parrish Baer first bought property. Dillon didn’t think it was a good fit. So a new site had to be found. Now that I see this sublime spot on the river, all I can think is Lynne and Rob Baer make the best lemonade ever!

A presidential election was approaching as people watched politicians vying for the Democratic Party nominee. The world was readying itself for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. In Summit County, visitors flocked to local ski resorts to enjoy their winter vacations. No one was thinking about sourdough starters. A year later, Summit County, along with the rest of the world, looks a lot different than it once did. People line up to enter grocery stores. Customers bundle up as they eat outside in below-zero temperatures. Seeing the lower half of a stranger’s face feels like an intrusion.
