New Coffee House to Open Near West Endicott Park Danielle Edgington says she plans to open Paula s Coffee House in West Endicott on Monday morning. Edgington worked for several years at a Starbucks store in the town of Dickinson. She s now looking forward to serving coffee at the new business at 110 North Page Avenue. Paula s Coffee House is located on North Page Avenue, across the street from West Endicott Park. (Photo: Bob Joseph/WNBF News) Edgington says the coffee house is named in memory of her late grandmother. The shop will serve coffee and other beverages, along with pastries for takeout. The coffee is being obtained from Java Joe s Roasting Company in Binghamton.

Sampler: Sweats for Vets gives out sweatshirts

Mary Wenzel The Sweats for Vets organization met its goal for the year 2020 by collecting and distributing 2,100 sweatshirts to homeless veterans in the New England/New York area. Homeless veterans all over New England were gifted with Boston sports team hooded sweatshirts for Christmas. Some 40 organizations participated in the Marlborough-based Sweats for Vets efforts including the St. Stephen Lutheran Church, the Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club, the Rotary Club of Marlborough and others. The founder of Sweats for Vets, Mark Vital, started this mission with the belief that a sweatshirt from a New England based team brings more than just warmth but also pride and hope to a homeless veteran.

Watch Out For Movie Prop Money Being Used In Utica Two businesses in the City of Utica have spotted counterfeit bills being used in their business. The bills in question, are movie prop money. Douglas Giovanni Allen-Leonard of Wisk, and Heather Delia of Utica Coffee Roasting Company, shared the news on Facebook of recent counterfeit issues: Local downtown businesses beware we just had a younger girl come into the cafe and tried to pay with a fake counterfeit bill. Marlborough brewery closes temporarily after two employees contract coronavirus

MARLBOROUGH Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company temporarily closed its taproom Tuesday after two employees tested positive for COVID-19. The two employees last worked at the downtown brewery and coffee roaster on Tuesday, Dec. 8, and Thursday, Dec. 10. Both employees are doing well, Lost Shoe wrote in a message on its Facebook page. “After discussing with the health department we don’t believe there has been any potential exposure risk to any of our customers or other employees, but we do feel closing to do an extra deep clean of our taproom is the right thing to do while we await the rest of our team’s results,” the post reads.
