The Roaring River Fish Hatchery in Cassville is starting production again after spending years in renovation.
The hatchery spent two years upgrading its systems and 1.9 million dollars in the process. One of the main upgrades was a flood-control structure at the entrance to spring entrance, which was given a leak-proof pipeline and a water treatment device.
Manually operated gates were replaced with automatic ones.
Around 3 to 4 hundred thousand fish are produced every year for state parks around Missouri.

You have to think of the big picture when it comes to raising trout from eggs to fingerlings to parr and older at a hatchery. After a two-year pause due to renovations, Roaring River Fish Hatchery officials are glad to be back in operation.
Roaring River Hatchery Manager Paul Spurgeon said the hatchery took back full ownership from the construction company Dec. 2 following a nearly $2 million project that replaced the spring pool falls with electric gates. The flood control structure at the spring’s entrance also was replaced with a leak-proof pipeline.
