William Byrd High School to hold COVID-19 vaccine clinic Friday for students 16+ Students will be administered the Pfizer vaccine Published:  Tags:  VINTON, Va. – Some Vinton students have the opportunity to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday. Roanoke County Public Schools and the Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts are teaming up to hold a vaccine clinic at William Byrd High School for students ages 16 and older, according to a message sent to parents. Health officials will administer the Pfizer vaccine, which has been approved for people age 16 and older. The shots will only be available for William Byrd High School students. However, school officials said this will be an optional clinic that will take place on April 23 during the school day.

On April 15, anyone 18 and older can go to The Berglund Center to get a dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. People won’t need to register for an appointment, and the vaccine will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. “To date, more than 170,000 first and second doses of vaccine have been administered in the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts,” said Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts health director Cynthia Morrow. “Vaccine supplies into our district have increased significantly which allows the opportunity for people to get their vaccinations at our clinic without an appointment on Thursday.”

Several Health Districts Moved into General Population Vaccinations Today

The Roanoke City-Alleghany, Southside and Pittsylvania/Danville Health Districts all plan to move into Phase 2.
