The predawn police crackdown at UCLA marked the latest flashpoint for mounting tensions on US college campuses, where protests over Israel’s conduct of the war in Gaza.
Authorities in Los Angeles started clearing out pro-Palestinian protesters and their encampments early Thursday morning after the demonstrators ignored orders the leave.
While some students said they felt threatened by the encampment and other events on campus, a professor said he would not let administrators and others “weaponize antisemitism.”
