On April 2, an officer with Houma Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation before it sped off. A pursuit began and, at one point, the suspect crashed into a Lafourche deputy's unit.
Louisiana State Police issued a Silver Alert on behalf of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Louis Benjamin, a 75-year-old Gretna man.
The suspect has been in custody since the crash while he was receiving treatment at a local hospital for his injuries. He now has been booked into jail.
