The second freight conference geared toward Kentucky’s public riverports included a focus on their emerging markets and how to take advantage of potential economic development opportunities.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet presented the Kentucky Summit on Economic Development Strategies to Leverage Kentucky Riverports and Freight Network virtually March 24-26. A third conference is planned within a few months. (Previous coverage of the summit is here.)
In a session titled “Forecasting the Future of Kentucky’s Freight Economy,” Paul Bingham, director of transportation consulting for IHS Markit, and Chandler Duncan, project manager for Metro Analytics, sought to provide information the ports can act upon.
Ronald L. (Ron) Batory has joined the R.J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC Board of Directors.
The R.J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC named Ronald L. (Ron) Batory, former FRA Administrator, to the Board of Directors on Feb. 1.
Prior to federal service, Batory was President and Chief Operating Officer of Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail) for 12 years, until his retirement in April 2017.
After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Adrian College in Michigan, Batory began his 46-year railroad career in 1971 working for the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad. He received a Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1975, and then served in positions of progressively greater responsibility with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, the Chicago, Missouri & Western Railway, and Southern Pacific Transportation Company. In 1994, Batory became President of The Belt Railway Company of Chicago, the largest intermediate switching terminal in the U.S. In 1998, he was recruited by C

Mark Boyle will be taking on the role of Vice President, effective immediately.
His predecessor, Rick Johnson, will remain with the company in an advisory capacity and will assist with and ensure a smooth transition. Mark will be responsible for the operations of the company’s non- emergency divisions that perform work including track construction, maintenance of way, and industrial services.
