Police force in san jose, a city once called americas safest city. Its the reality of having 500 fewer officers than the city had in 2007. Calls are now prioritized because tare arent enough cops on the street. Richard says climb is up in his neighborhood, but many residents dont bother to report some incidents. A lot of people are giving up now. Why call them when theyre not going to come out. Reporter Santa Clara County may have an answer. They want to let Sheriff Deputies temporarily help out the San Jose Police department. The idea comes after the city was only able to recruit about half of the 60 open slots in the next police academy. The money in the open slots will help pay for the deputy patrols. The department is helping in solve crimes to lock up other burglars and criminals. Its an area that san jose is almost completely anemic.
