Date Time New UK Government Covid testing site opens in Wick The UK Government has today, Thursday 7 January, opened a new walk-through coronavirus testing centre at Riverside Car Park in Wick (KW1 4EA). The centre is easily accessible for people without a car. The test centre is part of the largest network of diagnostic testing facilities created in British history. In Scotland, this comprises of six drive through sites, 23 walk-through sites, 23 mobile units, plus the Glasgow Lighthouse Lab which is working round the clock to process samples. In Scotland, the UK Government is providing all Covid testing and test processing outside of the NHS. Around two thirds of all daily tests are provided by the UK Government, in support of Scotland’s health services.

St Mary s church, Yate, to hold socially distanced services on Christmas Eve

St Mary s Church, Yate St Mary s Church, Yate will be holding their annual Crib Service on Christmas Eve with three separate services over the afternoon to allow as many parishioners as possible to attend the service. Despite currently being in Tier 3, the Government regulations allow the church to hold services over Christmas and therefore the crib service can be held as it has been in previous years, on Christmas Eve. To comply with social distance regulations the services will be limited to 30 people per service and in an effort to accommodate as many people as possible, the church will hold three consecutive services at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm and will be cleaning the church between each service.
