Pupils from Riversdale School raised more than $300 for the Westpac Chopper Appeal Bike Ride, and got to hand it over when cyclists stopped for lunch at their school on Friday,
The race organiser describes him as ‘’a big boy to push up the hills’’ – but former All Black and mental health advocate Sir John Kirwan had kept up with the bunch and looked pretty fresh when he rode his bike into the northern Southland town of Riversdale on Friday. Kirwan, and Black Spokes team members Aaron Gate, Campbell Stewart and Dylan McCullough, made up a group of about 90 riders raising funds for the Westpac Chopper Appeal Bike Ride, to raise funds for rescue helicopters.
