Site preparation to start on new Calgary event centre this year

The government of Alberta, City of Calgary, and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) – the owners of the Flames – announced Thursday that they have agreed to develop a $1.2 billion multipurpose event centre that includes an $800 million arena to replace the 40-year-old Scotiabank Saddledome.
