Play Amherstburg is a new initiative that will encourage children to join a range of activities on a blocked off section of Richmond Street this Sunday and also Aug. 29.
Thrive Amherstburg is testing the water to see if the group of community activists should push town council to invest in kids programming as part of Open Air weekends 2022 where streets are closed to vehicles and patios extend across the pavement.
“As we looked at best practices that will be adapted for Amherstburg we have come across numerous examples of communities turning over their streets to kids,” a media release said.
