Christmas has often been referred to as “The Season of Light” and nobody takes that more seriously than Athens’ Jonathan Ruhlen.
The River Bottom Road resident – known at this time of year as the Electrical Elf and his family have perhaps one of the city’s most unique holiday displays, a revue that features several songs and more synchronized lights than can almost be imagined.
“It brings so much joy to the kids and the neighborhood and it’s just a lot of fun to do,” said Ruhlen, who started lighting up the neighborhood in 2017. “As the Electrical Elf always says, the best way to spread Christmas glee is with a light show for all to see. That’s my tagline.”
