Woman injured when vehicle collides with fully-loaded tractor-trailer in Bingham
Police: Jessica Richards, 42, of New Portland, was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to be treated for a possible head injury and severe upper left arm injury.

BINGHAM A woman was injured early Monday morning when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a fully-loaded tractor-trailer, police said.
Jessica Richards, 42, of New Portland, was driving north on Route 201 in Bingham around 1:25 a.m. when the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving veered into the opposite lane, according to Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office. The Jeep crashed into a tractor trailer truck that was hauling tree-length logs, heading south, Mitchell said.

Five people were taken to hospitals Friday after a single-vehicle crash on Meadow Brook Road in New Portland. The crash occurred when a 2016 Lexus sport utility vehicle went out of control after the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel, according to police. The Lexus left the road and struck trees on the left side of the road, also known as Route 16.

Five people were taken to hospitals Friday after a single-vehicle crash on Meadow Brook Road in New Portland that appeared to be caused by excessive speed and driver inattention.
Two of the passengers were taken to a Lewiston hospital by two LifeFlight helicopters that landed at the New Portland Fire Station, according to Michael Mitchell, chief deputy of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
