A Twentynine Palms property owned by a Cathedral City council member and her husband was raid by Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday morning. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team raided the illegal marijuana grow owned by Rita and David Lamb in the 68000 block of Winters Road about 8:30 Wednesday and seized hundreds of marijuana plants. In January, we reported that another property owned by the Lambs on Anaheim Road in Twentynine Palms was raided by deputies for having an illegal marijuana grow; deputies also seized hundreds of plants from that location. David Lamb told Z107.7 News that he sold the properties on a contract for deed, so while he technically owns the land, he claims it’s the new owners who are behind the illegal grows. Neighbors have told Z107.7 they have complained about the illegal marijuana grows on the Lambs’ property to county and law enforcement officials for years.
“For more than a year now, thousands of families throughout Coachella Valley have lost their jobs or had their work hours drastically reduced due to the effects of COVID-19,” Ross said. “This rental assistance program is for both those who are behind as well as those struggling to pay their rent due to these dire circumstances.”
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted in February to approve $57.3 million in emergency rental assistance program funding from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Landlords with tenants with unpaid debt balances are encouraged to notify their tenants about the program.
More information about the rental assistance program and an online application can be found at UnitedLift.org.
In the final weeks before Tuesday s Cathedral City special election on Measure B, an initiative that will decide the future of short-term rentals in the city, a campaign committee supported by Airbnb has donated $75,000 to bolster Measure B opposition.
Voters in this western Coachella Valley city are casting ballots after months of heated debate between short-term rental owners, who say it is their right to rent out their properties, and their neighbors, who contend these properties disrupt neighborhoods and diminish residents quality of life.
A yes vote on Measure B will uphold City Council s 2020 decision to phase out short-term rentals by 2023. A “no” vote will revert to a prior set of regulations on short-term rentals in the city.
