FSU adopts NameCoach to support campus diversity

Florida State University recently adopted a new technology, NameCoach, which allows students to record the proper pronunciation of their names for other members of the university community. According to a university announcement, the program has been employed with the goal of supporting diversity and inclusivity on campus.
“NameCoach promotes campus diversity and inclusion by encouraging respect in every interaction, from helping new students feel like they belong to improving rapport with alumni and donors on fundraising calls,” reads the university’s Information Technology Services page for NameCoach.
While some campus groups have already utilized NameCoach in the past, the technology is now available university-wide in Canvas, the myFSU Portal and Student Central.
